Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, on Saturday commissioned a N13.07 billion road construction project at Omoku-Egbema in Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.

Fubara while commissioning the road, said that the project was added to the line of projects to be commissioned within his one year tenure in office to prove to Rivers people that they are the most important project for his administration.

Fubara said that the project was also to tell Rivers people that every part of the state would have a positive feel of his administration.

Fubara thanked the contractor for delivering the project at the stipulated time.

Fubara promised that his administration would granted few requests out of the numerous request made by Egbema communities to enable his administration carry out projects in other local government area.

He ordered the Ministry of works to ensure that the remaining part of the road and the bandry leading to the bandry of Imo state should be completed.

Fubara also assured that the contractor would move into the site in the next one week to complete the zonal hospital in the Local Government area.

Fubara thanked the people of the Omuku Egbema for supporting the party during and after election.

He assured that his administration would live up to his promises to the people of Rivers.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr. Atemea Brings, while describing the project, said that a 21.6 km dual carriage road was awarded to Cetraco Nigeria Company Limited on April, 28, 2023 by the previous administration.

Briggs said that the road was awarded at the sum of N7.597 billion without funding before the current administration led by Gov. Siminalayi Fubara mobilised the contractor to start work in July, 2023.

Briggs said that the scope of the project changed due to prevailing inflation rate and was added to the sum of N5.47 billion bringing the project to the total value sum of N13.07 billion.

Briggs said that the full amount was paid to the contractor and the project completed within the time frame.

He said the road has many features including 45m long bridge, 8.2 km of drainage and a 7.3m wide carriage way on each side.

Briggs said cetraco construction company was responsible for the entire completion of the 21.6km strech of the road.

“The full construction of the 9km of the road pavement, creating out ward drainage to the river at Omoku, adding side drainages and completely resurfacing the 21.6 km road with 100 km tick asfatic concrete,”he said.

Briggs said that the Omoku communities would benefit from the wellbeing growth, particularly in advancing their businesses and contribute to their social integration.

Dr Peter Odili, the former Governor of Rivers, while commissioning the project, said that Gov. Fubara had demonstrated a symbol of love to the people of Onelga and the entire Rivers people in few months that he is in charge as a governor.

He commended the Governor for focusing on the welfare of the people and urged him to remain focused in all he do as the Governor of the state.

Odili assured the governor that all the appointees in his administration that hail from Onelga would continue to give him support and will not give him cause to be worried throughout his tenure.

The Area Manager Cetraco Nigeria Limited, Michael Isa, expressed gratitude for his commitment to ensure that the project be successfully completed.

Isa thanked the governor for his love towards his people by approving an additional scope Of work for extra drainage for properly discharge of water into the drainage which would increase the life span of the road.

He also thanked the Oba of the Ogba land and the people of the community for creating a peaceful and enabling environment which had enabled them to complete the project without struggle in record time.

He said that his company would continue to deliver quality projects whenever they are called to do so.
