Rivers State Governor Emphasizes Commitment to Education During School Inauguration
Ahoada Town, Rivers State – In a bid to enhance the educational landscape of Rivers State, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to implementing strategic projects aimed at improving the lives of residents. His remarks came during the inauguration of the remodeled Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada Town, Ahoada East Local Government Area, on Friday.
Governor Fubara, who took office on May 29, 2024, revealed that he inherited the school project and chose to proceed with the original three contractors due to the critical importance of education in his administration’s agenda. “Our investment in education will empower our girls to become bold, resourceful, and responsible citizens,” he stated.
The newly inaugurated school features a range of facilities designed to foster a conducive learning environment. The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ovy Chinedum Chukwuma, elaborated on the project’s offerings, which include an administrative block, two blocks of 12 classrooms, a laboratory block, an assembly hall, residential quarters for the principal and vice principals, as well as essential furniture, equipment, and sports facilities.
In a ceremony that highlighted both his governance and cultural significance, Governor Fubara was also conferred with the traditional title of Eze Yawe Ugo of Ekpeye land, which translates to “The King who brings happiness and joy to Ekpeye land,” by the Ekpeye Council of Traditional Rulers.
With this development, the Rivers State government seeks to ensure lasting improvements in educational access and quality, particularly for female students in the region.
