Thirty days after its establishment, the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor Siminalayi Fubara to investigate the widespread destruction of property across several local government councils has submitted its comprehensive report. The findings were presented to Governor Fubara on Tuesday at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
During the handover, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of accountability, labeling the report as a significant move towards holding individuals responsible for their actions. He condemned certain politicians for their reckless actions that threaten the decades-old legacies within the state. “This administration will not tolerate such recklessness,” he asserted.
In a decisive move, Governor Fubara announced his intention to implement the Commission’s recommendations, assuring the people of Rivers that political desperation would not compromise the state’s development agenda.
Reports indicate that the Rivers State Government plans to release a white paper, outlining actionable steps based on the findings of the Commission. This initiative reflects the governor’s commitment to maintaining stability and fostering growth in the region.
The report’s submission marks a critical development in the state’s ongoing efforts to address the impacts of recent property destruction and to promote lasting accountability among political leaders.
