A 38-year-old man, Ridwan Adegbola, who allegedly defrauded his business partner of N30 million over IPhone importation, on Tuesday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.

The defendant of undisclosed address, is standing trial on a three-count charge of fraud, stealing and threat to life.

The prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opaleye, told the court that sometime in January, at about 2.00 p.m. in Ibadan, the defendant fraudulently obtained N30 million from one Mr Olatunji Olawale.

He said the defendant obtained the money on the pretext of importing  IPhone mobile phones from United States of America for the complainant.

Opaleye said the defendant failed to import the mobile phones but converted the money to his personal use.

He said the defendant allegedly threatened the life of the complainant with the intent to intimidate him .

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 86 (1), 383 and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted him to bail in the sum of N7.5 million with two sureties in like sum.

Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until May 20, 2025 for  hearing.
