In a strong rebuke, Chijioke Ihunwo, the chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government, criticized the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, for allegedly deploying police officers to disrupt trading activities at Oginigba Market.
Reports indicate that on Monday morning, a contingent from the anti-cultism unit of the Nigerian Police Force, led by CSP Mohammed and CSP Masarachi, forcibly removed traders from the market.
Speaking to journalists, Ihunwo condemned the actions of the police, labeling them as tools of disruption for WIKE. He cautioned the officers involved, recalling that similar actions taken in the past by police officials, such as MBU Joseph Mbu, led to their eventual decline into obscurity.
In response to speculation regarding the land used for his shopping mall, Hyper City, Ihunwo denied any claims that WIKE had purchased the disputed parcel, calling those allegations false.
The situation continues to escalate as local traders seek clarity and support from local government officials.
