The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Osun State University branch, has announced its readiness to join the two-week warning strike declared by the union’s national leadership.
Dr Weinde Olaosebikan, Chairman of UniOsun ASUU, disclosed this in an interview with a correspondent in Osogbo on Monday.
“The strike is a directive to all branches of ASUU nationwide, therefore, all branches must join and comply maximally,” he said.
“UniOsun ASUU will join the strike. There is no division among our members. We are going to issue a directive before noon, as the strike commences by midnight. All academic activities have to be suspended until the end of the two-week warning strike,” he added.
The National President of ASUU, Prof. Chris Piwuna, had on Sunday announced the nationwide two-week warning strike during a news conference at the University of Abuja.
Piwuna gave the directive after the ultimatum issued to the Federal Government to meet the union’s demands expired on Sunday.
