In a call for proactive measures in energy management, Professor Remi Uche, a distinguished energy expert, has urged the federal government to initiate training programs focused on the safe use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Speaking at an energy summit held in Eleme, Professor Uche emphasized the potential dangers associated with CNG, warning that improper handling could lead to significant destruction.

“CNG, while being a cleaner fuel alternative, poses certain risks if not managed correctly. It is essential that personnel are adequately trained to handle this resource safely,” Professor Uche stated during his address.

In related news, the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to Nigeria, Charlton De Landro, revealed that discussions regarding Nigeria’s transition to CNG began well before the current administration. De Landro advised Nigerian officials to approach this energy transition uniquely and independently, free from external pressures or benchmarks.

“The transition to CNG is a vital step for Nigeria’s energy future, and it should be tailored to fit the country’s specific needs and context,” he emphasized.

As the global energy landscape continues to evolve, Nigerian authorities face pressing decisions regarding the adoption and management of alternative fuels like CNG. The call for specialized training and thoughtful integration into the existing energy framework may play a crucial role in ensuring the benefits of CNG are maximized while mitigating potential risks.
