The Police Command in Akwa Ibom has recovered an AK-47 rifle from two suspected hoodlums arrested along Idoro Road in Uyo metropolis.

DSP Timfon John, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol on Thursday.

She said personnel of the command intercepted the suspects while loitering in a dark spot near Abolin Junction.

“They were intercepted while loitering in a dark spot. After an instant search, one fabricated revolving AK-47 rifle and one jack knife were found on them,” she said.

According to her, the suspects, who falsely claimed to be security guards, could not provide uniforms, identification, or any credible explanation for the firearm.

John said the suspects were undergoing interrogation and would be prosecuted after investigations.

She reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Akwa Ibom, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
