The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has appealed to the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammad Mustapha, to intervene in securing the release of revenue allocation for the Muslim community in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia.

Dr Eze Eme II, NSCIA Vice President General, Eastern Emirate, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Lamido in Yola on Sunday.

He explained that the revenue was generated from the cattle market in the Lokpanta Muslim community, with 60 per cent going to the state government and 40 per cent allocated to the Muslim community.

According to him, the 40 per cent is further divided into three portions—10 per cent for the Hausa community, 10 per cent for the Igbo Muslim community, and 10 per cent for the wider Muslim community. He noted that the last portion remained inaccessible, preventing it from being used to support Islamic activities.

“Sir, I make a passionate appeal to His Royal Highness on behalf of the Muslim community in the Eastern Zone Emirate Council in Abia. With due respect and dignity, we urge your intervention as a father, mentor and national religious leader,” Eme said.

He also extended condolences to the Lamido and the people of Adamawa over the passing of Dr Ahmed Mustapha, former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Sardauna Adamawa.

In his response, the Lamido of Adamawa thanked Eme for the visit and commended his concern for his people as well as his contributions to Islamic propagation in Nigeria.
