The National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Mary Alile, has inaugurated the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a women’s movement created to mobilise grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Friday in Abuja, Alile described the group as comprising female political gladiators and seasoned grassroots mobilisers from across the country.

She said President Bola Tinubu had achieved much within two years in office, making it necessary to spread the message to the grassroots.

According to her, Tinubu’s bold economic reforms, strategic investments in infrastructure, social investment programmes, education, agriculture and women empowerment demonstrate a consistent commitment to repositioning Nigeria for greatness.

Alile urged APC women to be bold narrators of the administration’s success story and to take the Renewed Hope Agenda to wards, communities, churches, mosques and marketplaces.

She charged members to stand firm in reshaping the trajectory of the nation.

*“Let your commitment to the APC course be stronger than ever before and let us wear our party colours with pride and defend its ideals with courage.

“Let us organise, mobilise and energise every corner of our constituencies; let us raise new leaders, mentor the young and carry the flame of progress forward.

“We are the Tinubu Torchbearers. We are not just lighting the path to 2027, we are setting it ablaze with unity, purpose and passion.

“Let history remember this moment as the time Nigerian women stood up, rose together and changed the trajectory of a nation,”* she said.

She added that the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, had tirelessly dedicated herself to uplifting Nigerian women through initiatives in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and social intervention programmes under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Alile pledged that the Tinubu Torchbearers would follow her footsteps to multiply impact at the grassroots level.

On women’s representation in governance, she urged women across the country not to relent in pushing for special seats for women in the legislature bill.

She said the bill was long overdue, noting that Nigeria was ranked very low in Africa for women’s representation in governance.

Responding, the TTB Coordinator for Anambra, Princess Ekene Ozobu, expressed gratitude on behalf of all coordinators for being chosen to serve.

She pledged that the group would hit the ground running, carrying the torch of Tinubu’s achievements through to 2027.

“We will not disappoint you, as you have nominated us and you have seen our track record. We will continue and make sure that we take this torch down to each and every part of the society,” she said.
