Nigerian singer Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, popularly known as Reekado Banks, has responded to a social media user who mocked him for attending church, suggesting it was because he had “failed” as a musician.
The exchange began after content creator Kesari revealed online that he was considering drawing closer to God but was undecided between Christianity and Islam. Reekado Banks invited him to worship at his church, a gesture that was later captured in a viral video of the two worshipping together.
While many praised the move, one online troll dismissed it with a controversial comment: “When they fail at music, they start going to church.”

The former Mavin Records signee did not ignore the jab. In a video posted on his page, he delivered a blunt response, saying the remark had initially weighed him down but he refused to let it stand.
The post sparked a wave of reactions. Some social media users condemned the toxicity of online spaces, stressing that celebrities are human and entitled to their faith. Others applauded Reekado’s decision to put God first, while a few advised him to ignore faceless trolls in the future.
Reekado’s clapback has since trended widely, reigniting conversations about how public figures navigate faith, criticism, and the pressures of celebrity life.
