Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, Baba Azare, has reiterated the commitment of the force to implementing policies that promote the wellbeing of retired officers.
Azare made this known in Uyo on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Akwa Ibom Chapter of the National Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (NARPON).
He stated that the Inspector-General of Police remained fully committed to the welfare of retired personnel and their families.
The commissioner assured that the command would continue to support the activities of NARPON in the state.
Azare commended the association for choosing dialogue over protest in addressing the concerns of retired officers.
“I want to sincerely thank you for the good relationship you have cultivated with serving police officers in Akwa Ibom.
“While others are protesting in the streets, you chose dialogue as a way of seeking solutions to your challenges, this is commendable,” he said.
He also promised to facilitate the donation of land for the construction of a meeting hall for the association.
Earlier, Chairman Anselem Eyo commended the command for its proactive efforts in tackling crime across the state.
Eyo noted that the association was ready to partner with the command through intelligence sharing to curb crime and violence.
