Nigerian Army says it has intensified nationwide operations, neutralising terrorists, rescuing kidnapped victims, arresting suspects, and recovering weapons between Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

Military sources said troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA ambushed terrorists at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara, freeing nine hostages, including three women and six children. An AK-47 rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition, motorcycles, mobile phones, and logistics supplies were also recovered.

In Sokoto, troops of 8 Division Garrison neutralised a terrorist at Gidan Garkuwa, Tureta LGA, recovering an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. Similarly, 1 Brigade troops disrupted armed groups in Magazu, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara, seizing motorcycles and military uniforms.

In Borno, one suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorist surrendered to troops of 242 Recce Battalion in Monguno after abandoning the group due to hardship and internal divisions.

Troops also foiled an armed robbery along Jos–Bauchi road in Plateau, repelled cattle rustlers in Mangu LGA, and uncovered illegal refining activities in Rivers and Lagos, where suspects were intercepted for stealing construction materials.
