Police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 25-year-old man, Toheeb Musbau, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing aluminium windows valued at N200,000.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, faced charges of felony and stealing but pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Insp. Edet Ekpo told the court that Musbau committed the offence on Aug. 15 at about 2:00 p.m. on Amunipe Street, Ibiye, Badagry.
Ekpo alleged that the defendant conspired with others to steal the aluminium windows, property of one Lapa Muritala.
“He was arrested and handed over to police for prosecution,” the prosecutor said.
Ekpo added that the offences contravened Sections 409 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, noting that one surety must be self-employed.
Layeni adjourned the case until Sept. 24 for mention.
