The Osun Mastermind (TOM), a civil society organisation, has urged the Osun House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, to complete abandoned projects within the Assembly complex.
The Executive Director of TOM, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, made the call on Friday in Osogbo during the group’s August 2025 state of the state address.
Oyedokun-Alli noted that the Assembly Quarters, meant to house lawmakers and provide them with comfort to carry out their duties, was still in disrepair. He also expressed concern over the Assembly gate project on the major road, describing its abandonment as worrisome for such a critical arm of government.
“We are wondering how the state assembly has provided shelter for its members in the last two years despite spending scarce state resources on monetising accommodation for its members. It has been two years since renovation and reconstruction work commenced on the Assembly gate and the quarters, but till date, none of the projects have been completed,” he said.
He stressed the need for the Assembly leadership to ensure accountability and avoid public ridicule of the legislature, adding that projects within the complex should be completed speedily for posterity.
On road infrastructure, Oyedokun-Alli called on the state government to rehabilitate the Ibokun–Imesi Ile road and the Ila Orangun road, describing them as “death traps” that endangered lives.
He also urged the completion of ongoing road projects, including the Iwo–Ibadan road and the Ilesa township road, noting that road networks were crucial to societal development and had direct impact on people’s lives. (NAN)
