The revered monarch, who reigned for 65 remarkable years, died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, bringing an end to one of the longest and most impactful royal reigns in modern Nigerian history.

Born in 1933 and crowned in 1960, Oba Sikiru Adetona became a symbol of tradition, wisdom, and leadership, guiding the people of Ijebuland with a deep sense of duty and cultural pride. His reign coincided with Nigeria’s independence, and throughout his decades on the throne, he was celebrated for his dedication to justice, peaceful leadership, and cultural preservation. Known for his intellect and progressive mindset, he was not only a traditional ruler but also a statesman whose influence extended well beyond Ogun State.
