Two suspects declared wanted over the alleged assault on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Goodluck Iheanachor, have surrendered to the Rivers State Police Command.

Hector Ekakita, Chief Security Officer, and Aloni Olodi, Chief of Staff, turned themselves in to authorities on 10 July at approximately 3 p.m.

The duo had been declared wanted on 6 July for their alleged involvement in a violent incident that occurred on 20 June at the council secretariat. According to police accounts, a group of about 30 youths stormed Iheanachor’s office, assaulted him, stole official documents and personal belongings, and forced him to sign a resignation letter under duress.

In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the suspects were interviewed by the Commissioner of Police and senior officers before being transferred to the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigations Department for further enquiry.

“The police command urges anyone with information that can aid the investigation to come forward,” she said.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, stressed the need for continued public cooperation to ensure justice is served. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to a thorough and transparent investigation aimed at upholding law and order in the state.
