In a resounding affirmation of leadership and service, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, has been honoured with two distinguished awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of key academic units within the institution.

The awards were presented separately by the School of Science Laboratory Technology and the College of Health Sciences.The first award, given on the 8th of July, 2025, by the School of Science Laboratory Technology, commended Prof. Georgewill for his relentless efforts in fostering the development of both staff and students, as well as elevating the overall standard of the School. The elegant gold-engraved plaque highlighted his visionary leadership and transformative impact on the academic community.

In a follow-up recognition, the College of Health Sciences presented its Prestigious Award on the 10th of July, 2025, during the 54th Induction Ceremony of newly qualified medical doctors. The citation praised Prof. Georgewill’s pivotal role in the sustained excellence of the College, emphasizing his significant contributions to academic training and institutional growth.

Graciously acknowledging the honours, Prof. Georgewill expressed deep gratitude, attributing the recognitions to the grace of God and the collective dedication of the university community. “Still yet another recognition. Faithful God,” he noted humbly in his social media post.
