The Police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 25-year-old man, Sunday Oresanya, at Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing six aluminium glass panels.

The defendant, whose address is unknown, was charged with stealing and breach of peace, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor ASP Edet Ekpo told the court that the offences occurred on Aug. 12 at about 7:30 a.m. at Anikwu Estate, Ore Meta Aradagun, Badagry.

Ekpo alleged that the defendant stole six aluminium glass panels, the value of which is unknown, belonging to Felix Olabanji, the complainant.

“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by causing pandemonium. He was arrested in his home and handed over to the Police for prosecution,” he said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravenes Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Mr Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, requiring that one surety be a community leader.

The case was adjourned until Oct. 2 for mention.
