Abuja, July 1, 2025 – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced that its major crude oil pipelines were fully operational throughout June 2025 — a milestone not recorded in recent years.

This was disclosed by the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Bashir Ojulari, during his keynote address at the ongoing NOG Energy Week in Abuja. He attributed the achievement to robust security measures and collaborative efforts across the energy sector, which have significantly improved crude oil output.

Mr. Ojulari also revealed that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project has crossed a significant milestone by successfully spanning the River Niger. The project is now set for completion by the fourth quarter of 2025, thanks to innovative project financing and strong industry partnerships.

He further noted that NNPC’s financial position has dramatically improved, with the company now consistently meeting its financial obligations to joint venture operations. This issue had previously hindered production growth.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Abdulrazaq Isa, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), stressed that the Nigerian oil and gas industry is undergoing significant transformation. He pointed out that, with recent international oil company (IOC) divestments now complete, local producers play a critical role in the sector.

Isa highlighted the industry’s ambitious target of increasing national crude oil production to 3 million barrels per day and gas production to 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2030. He said that much of this growth will depend on the recently acquired onshore and shallow water assets, now controlled by indigenous companies.

He urged local operators — who now contribute more than half of the country’s oil and gas output — to accelerate investments and ensure sustainable growth, aligning with national development goals.
