Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso, has said the club is making steady progress as it enters a new era marked by strategic changes and rebuilding efforts.

Alonso, who took over from Bayern Leverkusen, made the remarks following Madrid’s 3–0 victory over Salzburg, describing the current phase as a crucial period for the team’s development.

“We are taking a step forward, and that is where we are,” he said, noting that the squad was embracing growth despite facing demanding competition.

With Madrid set to face Juventus in the round of 16, Alonso acknowledged the high stakes of the fixture but remained confident in his team’s preparation.

“We know it is a make-or-break game, and we need to be ready for that,” he said, stressing the importance of thorough readiness while expressing admiration for the Italian side.

He added that regardless of the result, the club would remain focused on its long-term vision.

“We are in the early stages of a new chapter and era in Madrid with a few changes,” he said.

The manager praised the players’ adaptability and growth under evolving tactics, stating that the team was using the period to refine its identity and build momentum.

“Despite the challenges, I’m satisfied with our progress and how the team is responding to new dynamics,” Alonso added.
