The Nasarawa State Government has tasked the management of Nasarawa United Football Club to win the 2025/2026 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) title or, at the very least, secure a continental ticket.
Mr Yakubu Kwanta, Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, gave the charge on Friday in Lafia during a farewell ceremony as the team departed for Abuja for preseason preparations.
Kwanta assured that the government would provide the necessary welfare and logistics support to players and the technical crew to ensure they were adequately equipped.
He explained that the approval for the signing of 15 new players was part of efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
The commissioner further said that allowances for players and technical crew would be increased and paid promptly to enable them to focus on achieving their target.
“As the season starts, if there are any issues that will affect the club, you must find a way of talking to us for a prompt response,” Kwanta added.
Also speaking, Solomon Babanja, Chairman of Nasarawa United FC, expressed gratitude to the state government for its continued support.
The chairman pledged that the team would approach each match with seriousness, adding that the squad was stronger than in the previous season.
Responding on behalf of the players, Captain King Osanga thanked the government for its encouragement and promised not to disappoint the state.
