The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has launched the 9th Mile Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (9CCIMA) in Enugu State.
The National President of NACCIMA, Mr Jani Ibrahim, inaugurated the chamber and its founding President, Chief Leonard Ugwu, on Friday in 9th Mile, Udi Local Government Area of the state.
Ibrahim tasked the new chamber to ensure representation of all business and commercial interests. He urged the leadership to build a robust and inclusive body capable of driving rapid growth and development in the 9th Mile area, Enugu State and beyond.
Represented by Chief Humphrey Ngonadi, President of the South-East Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (SECCIMA), Ibrahim noted that the 9th Mile axis was already rich in natural resources, industrial parks and thriving companies.
“I foresee rapid growth of the chamber. However, the council must build a team spirit that accommodates all so that the aspirations of establishing this chamber will be met. I congratulate you on this milestone, and as the parent body, NACCIMA will continue to support your growth,” he said.
Gov. Peter Mbah, represented by the Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Industry, Dr Sam Nwobodo, described 9CCIMA as strategically positioned as a gateway to Enugu State and the South-East. He highlighted that the state had already established two business parks and industrial processing zones in the area.
“Niger gas has been revitalised, the state is developing world-class motor spare part markets, land mapping and massive road construction, all aimed at making 9th Mile a major commercial hub,” he said.
He added that achieving the state’s $30 billion GDP target depended on creating a conducive environment for private sector investment and economic participation.
Mr Uche Mba, Director General of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, pledged continued support, while keynote speaker and real estate magnate, Chief Loretta Aniagolu, commended Gov. Mbah for revitalising abandoned enterprises and urged 9CCIMA to build partnerships within and outside the country to attract investment.
In his acceptance speech, Ugwu thanked President Bola Tinubu, Gov. Mbah, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, NACCIMA, SECCIMA, and ECCIMA for their support.
He emphasised the area’s potential, citing its potable water, coal and clay deposits, favourable weather for livestock production, cashew plantations, tourism opportunities, as well as its two free trade zones and dry ports.
“Within months, we will boost visibility through trade workshops, export seminars, and youth and women training on how to start and manage businesses,” he said.
The event also featured the inauguration of a nine-member council and the presentation of awards to individuals instrumental in establishing the chamber.
