The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Osun State has deployed 987 officers—including 565 regular personnel and 422 Special Marshals—for the Sallah festivities to ensure safety on highways across the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi.

Ogungbemi said the officers had been strategically stationed to manage traffic and safeguard lives and property during the celebration.

She urged motorists to drive responsibly and cooperate with traffic personnel throughout the festive period.

According to her, the Osun Sector Commander, Mr Leye Adegboyega, underscored the importance of shared responsibility among transport stakeholders in the state.

She said the commander had warned against excessive speeding, reckless driving, and route violations.

“The sector commander advised commercial drivers against overloading and driving under the influence of alcohol and other harmful substances,” she stated.

She further encouraged commercial drivers to install speed-limiting devices in their vehicles as a means of reducing crashes on major roads.

“Our operatives and the Special Marshals will be visible and professional on the roads during the festive period to ensure the safety of all road users in Osun,” she added.

“The special operation is aimed at improving our visibility and enhancing road safety through early deployment of personnel and logistics.”

Ogungbemi appealed to all motorists to drive with discipline and caution to prevent avoidable accidents and ensure a peaceful and safe Sallah celebration.
