The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expressed its preparedness to contest and take over political leadership in Nigeria come 2027.

Abubakar Dogara, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the North-Central Zone, made this known on Thursday during the SDP North-Central Zonal Caucus meeting held in Nasarawa State.

Describing the SDP as “the new bride of Nigeria,” Dogara claimed the party is witnessing a surge in membership across the country and is actively strengthening its presence at all levels.

“We are holding meetings at the zonal, national, ward, state, and local government levels. It’s all part of our preparations. Our membership cards are consistently exhausted at the state level,” he said.

He added that the party is building robust grassroots structures in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

“So, we are preparing to take over the leadership of the country come 2027, by the grace of God. I believe SDP is now the bride of the nation,” he stated.

Dogara urged citizens to join the party at the ward level and support its candidates in efforts to transform Nigeria’s political landscape.

Also speaking, Idoko Idoto, the Benue State Chairman of the party, expressed confidence in the SDP’s prospects.

“Come 2027, I assure you, SDP is coming with full force. SDP will take over Benue State and Nigeria. We’ll win all the senatorial seats, House of Representatives, and the State Assembly will not be left out,” he said.

Idoto further noted that the SDP had previously governed Benue State and maintained that the party has a strong foundation to build upon for future victories.
