The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1st, a public holiday in celebration of the 2025 Workers’ Day.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, in Abuja.
The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasised the importance of peace in driving industrialisation and economic progress.
He applauded Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifices, stating that their contributions play a crucial role in the nation’s development and its international standing.
“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building, so I hereby urge you to imbibe the culture of innovation and productivity,” he said.
He further urged workers to elevate the standards of their professions, which in turn would enhance governance and ensure all Nigerians benefit fully from the country’s resources.
The minister reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of both citizens and foreigners.
Tunji-Ojo also extended his best wishes to all Nigerian workers for a joyful Workers’ Day celebration.
