The 27th Annual Conference of the Association of Nigeria Universities Chaplains (ANUC) is currently underway, with this year’s edition holding at the University of Port Harcourt for the first time in the history of the association.
The opening session featured a welcome address to all chaplains and their entourages who travelled from various parts of the country to attend. The Vice Chancellor of the host university, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, acknowledged the significance of hosting the conference and expressed appreciation to the executive committee of the association for selecting the university as this year’s venue.
“This is the first time ever that the conference is holding in the University of Port Harcourt,” Georgewill said, describing the event as a moment of honour for the institution.
Participants at the conference were introduced during the session, with representatives coming from a wide range of locations including Maiduguri, Dutse, Jos, Markudi, Zaria, Bauchi, Lagos, Nsukka, Benin, Calabar, Uyo, Owerri, Wukari, Adamawa, Abuja, and the host city, Port Harcourt.
According to the university source, the organisers and observers were pleased with what was described as the “Unity of Faith” that characterised the opening proceedings.
Starreporters gathered that the annual conference of the ANUC provides a platform for university chaplains to meet, share experiences, and engage in matters relating to spiritual life and chaplaincy work across higher education institutions in Nigeria.
