Mr Ifeanyi Emenari has officially assumed duty as the new Commissioner of Police for Benue State Command.

This was announced in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Makurdi.

According to the statement, Emenari, a seasoned officer from Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, joined the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992 and has since served in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles across the country.

He has held postings in Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Cross River, Osun, Ogun, Abia, and the Federal Capital Territory.

The statement highlighted that Emenari served as Unit Commander of the 27 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Katsina State from 1996 to 1999, Unit Commander of 29 PMF in Awka, Anambra State from 1999 to 2002, and Unit Commander of 11 PMF in Calabar, Cross River State from 2002 to 2003.

Emenari has also represented Nigeria in international peacekeeping missions, serving as Commanding Officer in various capacities. His assignments included Contingent Commander of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the United Nations Mission in Sudan, Operations Officer at the Joint Operation Centre (JOC) in Khartoum, and Deputy Security Adviser for Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan, in 2012.

Before his deployment to Benue, he served as Commissioner of Police and Force Provost Marshal.

As Commissioner in Benue, Emenari pledged to strengthen community policing, enhance security measures to safeguard lives and property, and optimise available resources to tackle insecurity across the state.
