Graduates of the University of Port Harcourt from the 1980s held a reunion event in 2025, marking the first such gathering since 2013.
The reunion brought together alumni and invited guests from various professional backgrounds to reconnect, celebrate, and deliberate on ways to contribute to the development of their Alma mater.
According to a post by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, the event was organized to enable alumni to reflect on their journeys and explore avenues for supporting the University. The gathering, he noted, provided a platform for former students to celebrate themselves and discuss their shared heritage.
The University management used the opportunity to present some of the ongoing challenges confronting the institution and called on the alumni for support in addressing them. The Vice Chancellor expressed hope that their contributions would play a vital role in uplifting the University.
Prof. Georgewill noted that the goal was to engage “these worthy alumni” in moving the University of Port Harcourt to greater heights.
Starreporters gathered that the event featured interactions, presentations, and networking among the participants, with a strong emphasis on institutional support and advancement.
