A recent survey by Zoho, a global technology company stated that 80 per cent of respondents cited poor WiFi/data connectivity as their biggest challenge to collaboration.
The Country Head, Zoho Nigeria, Mr Kehinde Ogundare, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday.
Ogundare said that the survey showed that Nigerian businesses are losing productivity due to the lack of unified collaboration platforms.
He said that the survey titled: “The State of Productivity and Collaboration in Nigeria 2024”, was conducted among over 500 organisations in Nigeria.
He said that respondents provided insights into their work models, collaboration challenges, and technology adoption strategies.
“Fifty-four per cent of respondents reported digital fatigue as a major challenge to collaboration.
“Forty-five per cent of respondents said information spread across too many apps is a significant challenge.
“The study also found that 51 per cent of respondents believe their organisations have adopted new technology to prepare for economic challenges,” he said.
Ogundare said the study showed further that 55 per cent of Nigerian businesses had adopted a fully on-site work model.
He said that 31 per cent operated in a hybrid setup, while 14 per cent are completely remote.
“The study also shows that 51 per cent of Nigerian employees use one to five apps daily, while 35 per cent use six to 10 apps, and 14 per cent rely on more than 10 apps,” he said.
According to him, however, only 50 per cent of respondents track their tasks in a unified view.
“Nigerian businesses have adopted various cloud tools to support their digital transformation journey.
“But these disconnected tools often lack integration with existing technology stacks, creating silos that hinder collaboration and lead to productivity losses.
“The survey highlights the growing demand for unified collaboration platforms, with 78 per cent of respondents citing the need for quick access to necessary information from different apps,’’ he said.
According to him, slow adoption of emerging technologies like AI is cited as a major factor hindering competitiveness.
Ogundare said that Zoho Workplace, a unified collaboration platform, was highlighted as a solution to these challenges, offering a single view of all relevant information and tasks.
