One 65-year-old Adekunle Obisesan, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over an alleged N1.2m land fraud.
Obisesan, whose address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Iyabo Oladoyin told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 26, at Olorunda area of Ibadan.
Oladoyin said the defendant obtained the sum of N1,240,000 from one Bakare Adebowale, with the pretext of selling two plots of land for him but failed to do so.
She said the defendant rather converted the money to his personal use and therefore committed offences contrary to Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She thereafter adjourned the case until Feb. 3, 2025, for hearing.
