An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife has ordered the remand of a 50-year-old woman, Kudirat Kareem, for allegedly exhuming a corpse.

The defendant, who has no fixed address, is facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, breach of peace and felony.

The prosecution alleged that Kareem exhumed the body of Adeoti Olagunju on Aug. 17 at Olugbodo Layout, Ondo Road, Ile-Ife, and took it to an unknown location without the knowledge of the deceased’s son, Adebola Sowole. She was also accused of selling an uncompleted building belonging to the late Olagunju without the family’s consent.

The court did not grant bail to the defendant and ordered her remand at Ilesa Correctional Centre, pending a formal bail application. The case was adjourned until Sept. 9 for mention.
