The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA) has rejected former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal’s, claim of an alliance between the North and the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Sunday, NEYGA spokesman Ibrahim Musa dismissed the narrative.
Lawal, now a chieftain of ADC, had told newsmen that the National Political Consultative Group (North) had adopted ADC as its preferred opposition party.
He made the statement while addressing the press at the close of the 3rd Expanded Meeting of the National Political Consultative Group (North), held at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel.
Dan-Musa described the narrative as a “fabrication”, urging Nigerians to ignore the claim.
“The North is not a political pawn to be manipulated by a select few; any decision of this magnitude must involve broad-based consultations with traditional rulers, youth leaders, and stakeholders.”
“Nigerians should disregard such an undemocratic proclamation.”
“We know the true patriots from the opportunists. The North will not be railroaded into another political misadventure by those who see our region as a mere stepping stone to power,” he said.
